Lake Highlands is where many buyers land when they want an established neighborhood without leaving Dallas. It stretches across much of Northeast Dallas, from White Rock Lake north toward Richardson. It's known for mature trees, winding residential streets, and a quieter pace than you'd expect this close to the city.
Housing here isn't one-size-fits-all. You'll find original mid-century ranches, thoughtfully updated homes, and newer construction. Buyers can take on a project, buy move-in ready, or go new, all in the same part of town.
Most of Lake Highlands is served by Richardson ISD, with neighborhoods feeding into Lake Highlands High School. That's a big reason buyers look here. School assignment varies by address, so it's always worth confirming.
The outdoors is right there. White Rock Lake's roughly 9-mile loop, the Dallas Arboretum, and the White Rock Creek and Lake Highlands trails are all close by. Getting around is easy too, with US 75 and I-635 nearby. DART's Lake Highlands Station sits next to Lake Highlands Town Center and connects to the Blue Line.
A quick view of the most influential metrics in Lake Highlands.

The lake sits at Lake Highlands' southern edge and anchors much of the area's outdoor life. A 9-mile paved loop circles the shoreline and connects to the SoPac Trail and the White Rock Creek Trail. Along the way you'll pass the Dallas Arboretum, boathouses, a dedicated dog park, and some of the best skyline views in the city. Mornings tend to be the busiest, with runners, cyclists, and rowers out early.
Lake Highlands' biggest advantage is that the trails connect. The White Rock Creek Trail runs about 8.5 miles north from the lake through Harry Moss, Anderson Bonner, and Valley View parks, then joins the Cottonwood Trail toward Richardson. The Lake Highlands Trail adds a neighborhood route closer to home.

Flag Pole Hill has an all-abilities playground and open space overlooking the White Rock area. Smaller parks are spread throughout the neighborhood, so most streets are a short walk or bike ride from green space.
Trail access varies by street. Some homes are a short walk from a trailhead, and others are a quick drive away. If daily trail use matters to you, we'll map it out home by home.
